As the only team sport played in the water, players must work together to outscore the opposing team through swimming, passing and shooting the ball. Sound easy enough? Water polo requires athletes to be excellent swimmers, strategic, creative and work together as a team. With similar tactics to basketball and handball, water polo is a high-tempo and unique sport.
