U14s Claim 4 out of 6 Medals at Provincials!!
This year our U14 program set the goal to win 4 provincial medals out of 6 — two for the Girls and two for the Boys. We split our athletes into two even teams with small rosters to prioritize play-time, development and to give the more experienced U12s the chance to play up. It was an up and down season with some tough moments but at Provincials our teams accomplished the goal bringing home FOUR Medals!! 1 Gold; 1 Silver and 2 Bronze
On the Boys side our Teal team won their first game but then lost their chance to play for gold by just one goal against the number 1 ranked team from the league. But their win earlier in the day secured the BRONZE medal for them! Our Blue team started off the day by going into a shootout and upsetting the number 1 ranked team which took them directly to the gold medal. In the gold medal game they had a rematch against the number 1 ranked team and under Coach Stefan’s leadership were able to pull out another win and the GOLD medal!! Congrats on a great year and a great finish!
On the Girls side our Blue team lost their first game to the number 1 ranked team while our Teal team won their first game. This set them up to play each other to determine who would play for gold and who would get bronze. The game was a nailbiter all of the way through and ended in a tie, which took us to the second shootout of the day resulting in Teal squeaking out the win. This meant that our Blue team earned the BRONZE medal and Teal went on to play for gold. Coach Raine led Teal team in a game against the number 1 ranked team and Teal claimed the SILVER medal in a narrow 6-3 loss.
Amazing work U14s! You made history by clinching 4 medals!
