Q & A with Coach Katelyn

Q: How did you first start playing water polo?

A: I did competitive swimming in the summer and wanted something to do in the winter to keep my endurance up, as well as a few of my friends were doing it.

Q: What is it about water polo that made you fall in love with the sport?

A: The tournaments because it creates such fun memories and creates amazing opportunities and has made me able to travel to lots of new places.

Q: What is your favourite water polo memory?

A: Playing with Team Alberta in the summer 2024, we won bronze and it was my first Team Alberta medal which was pretty special, i also got to experience it with an amazing team, which i've created many friendships from.

Q: What made you want to be a coach?

A: I wanted to create a fun space for athletes to come and have a good time and that makes them excited for practice.

Q: Who was your most influential coach?

A: My competitive swim coach Will Beach because he has always supported me and was always there for me and always motivated me to always do my best even if I wasn’t feeling up to the challenge.

Q: Who is an athlete you admire?

A: Summer McIntosh, she's so young, yet has accomplished so much. I look up to her hard work and dedication to her sport. She showed me no matter how young you are, it's the amount of work you put in that makes you great.
